One thing that should become law really soon: do away with pre-payment penalties on mortgage loans. These penalties were done away with many years ago. How they came back into fashion all of a sudden is a mystery to me, but those penalties alone can sink a borrower who wants to and otherwise can refi into a more comfortable loan to avoid foreclosure.

Looks like lenders shot themselves in the feet when they started sneaking these penalties into the loan documents.
