I agree with you that if the reason for Spinco was just to make a quick buck it would not be in the best interest of the majority of the shareholders. I still own shares from 1992. I'm not looking at Spinco from a short-term perspective. QTL will have 3G lawsuits to fight for as far as the eye can see. Then there is 4G. The way Wimax is shaping up it looks to be a worse legal mess than 3G. Why should the value of the rest of the company be held back by perpetual lawsuits. Ask yourself, if Spinco would have happened back in 2000, would QCT be in the mess they are today? I think not.
