"But it is "about us". That is what we SHOULD do, is to concern ourselves with our problems as a nation, to mind our own business and let the rest of the world do what it will. We shouldn't try to "save the planet", by force or otherwise."
Amen to that.
"We should get our troops out of Iraq, Germany, Korea, Japan and a hundred other places. We should stop being the "Royal Navy" to the whole world, after all, unlike the English back in their heyday, the whole place is not "our colony"."
Absolutely true.
"It is a damn shame that we wound up in the position of "world policeman" and "sole superpower" but sadly that is where we are now. And when we withdraw from that role, there will be war, probably world war and a nuclear world war at that. But we should withdraw anyway, the sooner the better."
I agree, but not about what would happen should the US withdraw. In fact, I think many in the world regret the day you assumed that role.
IMO, many of the problems are caused by US aggression, wrapped in flowery rhetoric of the stars and stripes, aided by the best marketing minds of the west. You may be very surprised how well the world can run without the aid of a government controlled by big business. |
