EC, that was not my point. My point had to do with acts of kindness-lol. There are times when the need for kindness and compassion is not related to anything other than the existential event of the moment-lol. Individuals and society should think in terms of kindness, not charity. I consider your comment a truism not related to the subject at hand-lol. EC: "If I put a mine in production with 100 workers, I have benefited 1000 people in Canada with decent jobs and perhaps 400 stockholders with better returns. That is my best way of helping. Hand out cash and you create a needy person. Hand out opportunity and you create perhaps an additional 4 other people who develop a life-long habit of helping themselves." EC<:-}
