I'm glad you use the word 'paramount' and not 'only'. At least you recognise there are other issues involved -- oil and Zionism, or Zionism and oil, if you prefer, are the two most important, I would say. While the influence of the Zionist neocons is certainly of prime importance in determining US foreign policy, you cannot dispute that the interests of Big Oil are also a major consideration.

For a while, while the Shah was around, Iran was highly favoured, as you know. But the US is very hungry and wants the lot -- and just like the monkey who couldn't let go of the nuts in the jar in order to get away, the US has the same predicament. It's greed will be its ruination.
