Dow Jones Newswires -- October 7, 1997 Cyclopss, N.Y. Firm To Make Ozone Anti-Contaminant For Food SALT LAKE CITY (Dow Jones)--Cyclopss Corp. (OZON) and Schlyer Machinery Co. signed a letter of intent to develop and manufacture a system to kill microbial contaminants on foods. In a press release Tuesday, Cyclopss said the system uses ozone, which was recently given the status of "generally recognized as safe" by the Food and Drug Administration. The system sprays ozonated water on foods at all points, killing contaminants including esherichia coli, listeria and salmonella and water-born microbes such as giardia and cryptosporidium. The two companies are also developing an ozone decontamination system for laboratory animal cages used in medical and pharmaceutical research. Cyclopss develops ozone application processes and technologies. Schlyer Machinery, Wilson, N.Y., manufactures spray washer-disinfectors.
