Thanks but it doesn't surprise me that that's how shortie or Harris got the info. What perplexes me is why this keeps happening over and over again. Why do these people repeatedly rely on mythology and hearsay for their source of info rather than the facts?

The facts are that the data for 1934 shows it as warmer than 1998 or 2006. Now that's a recent correction, and who knows it could get corrected again, but at this point arguments based on how hot recent years are compared to other years on record have gotten weaker.

But that's not true that the argument has been weakened, the point of which I was trying to make. First of all, more years in recent years have been records or in the top ten of hot years then at any other time in the last 100 years. Secondly, 1934 was a hot year for the US, not necessarily the globe. Thirdly, if you understand the theory behind global warming, you know that GW is caused by an increase of CO2 in the atmosphere. That didn't start in the last ten years or even in the 1930s. In fact, CO2 levels began to rise in the mid 19th century and were exceeding historical norms by the beginning of the 20th century. Therefore its not surprising that the 1930s or even the 1920s were starting to heat up.

The irony of all this back and forth is that finally conservatives are starting to agree that there is something to GW; however, with the caveat that it shouldn't effect the weather/the earth all that much. A surprising conclusion considering that we are seeing some very visible signs of change already. Frankly, Tim, I don't think the earth can afford to wait for conservatives to play catch up.
