MagtiCom Selects Harris Stratex Networks for $4 Million Wireless Infrastructure Expansion

Tuesday August 21, 9:00 am ET

Leading mobile operator in Georgia to expand network infrastructure and provide advanced services to rural regions

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSTX - News), the leading independent supplier of turnkey wireless transmission solutions, has secured two contracts totaling more than $4 million with MagtiCom, the leading mobile operator in Georgia. Harris Stratex Networks Eclipse(TM) advanced nodal wireless networking platform will be deployed to offer low-capacity access as well as high- capacity backhaul of both Super-PDH(TM) and native Ethernet traffic, extending MagtiCom's wireless infrastructure.

Eclipse seamlessly supports TDM voice as well as carrier-grade Ethernet data traffic utilizing the platform's Liquid Bandwidth(TM) software-scaleable capacity migration capability. The extensive use of the nodal architecture gives MagtiCom the ability to configure TDM or Ethernet services as and where needed, by the use of simple plug-in cards. The unique set of features offered by Eclipse allows for flexible network expansion that is adaptable to the changing needs of MagtiCom to accommodate next generation IP services. The network is controlled and monitored by Harris Stratex Networks' ProVision® Element Management System (EMS), which provides advanced features such as circuit provisioning and network health reporting.

"Choosing the Eclipse platform was a logical process for us, considering our long relationship with Harris Stratex Networks," said David L. Lee, chief executive officer, MagtiCom. "The company continues to deliver the most advanced point-to-point microwave radio technology available. While we restructure our growing network to roll out UMTS services for our 1.5 million subscribers, the high product quality and the excellent support that Harris Stratex provides will be key."

"The choice of Eclipse for a significant upgrade of a national mobile network to support the rollout of UMTS services as well as dedicated ISP solutions highlights the platform's strong upgrade and expansion capabilities," said Guy Campbell, president and chief executive officer of Harris Stratex Networks. "Eclipse has the ability to scale up in capacity as the network grows and provide a future-ready platform of mixed TDM and Ethernet streams for new voice, data and video services."
