Paraphrasing Slider: don't underestimate your "enemy". The Fed and world central banks are armed with unlimited resources to cushion the blows. If needed, they'll throw their inflation reluctance out the window to maintain economic health and it involves much more than lowering Fed funds rate. Fed Funds rates have plunged but that money wont stay there long. In summary, the short side doesn't look appealing except, maybe, very short term.
