Fascinating how people think they know but don't know. Reading the part about Jefferson reminded me of the story of Sally Hemmings who is said to have been a mistress to Jefferson. Sally Hemmings was black. About 20 years ago this gained attention by historians in Virginia. Was it true----possible. Don't have a link----sure its on the net. Check your own ancestry----------I have and found that the matriarchal lineage carries back four generations to a Cherokee Indian Grandmother married to an Englishman. Since written records were rare-------------the lineages were handed down orally and on scraps of paper. Just hope they include me when the Indians and Blacks get paid reparations-----heck, could use those millions. Perhaps there is some land that I could claim that has been paved over by a super highway-----one of the Indian ancestor's paths. lol mj
