Enigma > the dollar isn't really soaring nor is gold really tanking
Certainly for the last day or two, everything seems to be "stuck" and the markets don't know which way to go which, as far as I am concerned, is a very good thing. The extreme volatility caused either by rampant speculation or massive short-selling benefits only the professional traders at the expense of the long-term investors.
Fundamentally, I am aware of nothing which can reverse the long-term depreciation of the US dollar so, in due course when "normality" returns, I expect to see the various currencies appreciate against the dollar and, likewise, the rise in price of the various assets -- shares, property, commodities, etc.
Gold, of course, will be resuming its price rise to $10,000 an oz, albeit very slowly. |
