The armed services make efforts to accommodate their religious needs on base, such as building Islamic prayer rooms and hiring Muslim chaplains. But many Arab American soldiers say, 5 years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, they still feel they need to prove both their worth as soldiers, and their loyalty to the United States.


Perhaps you do not remember but Italians, all of them, faced discrimination and slurs for years after the Mafia was discovered by the sleeping J. Edgar Hoover. Many Italians had a difficult time over it. And just how many jibes were made about Drunken Irish Cops. Neither came from a group that managed a huge attack on American soil. To expect Americans to be anything other than suspicious, is foolishness, and the present Political correctness is making that suspicion worse not better.
