FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Rolled steel deliveries and orders declined in the second quarter compared with the same period of 2006, said the German Steel Federation, citing customer stockpiling.

German steel mills have been working almost at full capacity so far this year, though. The federation said that in the first seven months of 2007, crude steel output rose 4.5 pct.

In the second quarter, supplies of rolled steel fell slightly to 10.638 mln tonnes from 10.655 mln tonnes a year earlier.

Incoming orders decreased about 10 pct to 10.054 mln tonnes and orders on hand had dropped to 10.873 mln tonnes from 11.941 mln last year.

Both domestic and foreign orders have declined, affecting both flat steel and long products.
