Domestic steelmakers saw their weekly output rise in the past week, according to data released Monday by an industry group.

Production among domestic steelmakers was nearly 2.08 million net tons for the week ended Aug. 18, up from about 2.04 million net tons produced for the week ended Aug. 11, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.

In the Pittsburgh/Youngstown, Ohio, district, steel companies produced 202,000 net tons for the week ended Aug. 18, down from 206,000 net tons the previous week.

AISI is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit association of North American companies involved in the iron and steel industry.

The organization's data is based on reports from companies representing about 75 percent of the domestic industry's raw steel capacity.
