World steel output falls in July: IISI

LONDON: World crude steel output fell to 109.9 million tonnes in July 2007 from 110.6 million tonnes in June, figures from research group the International Iron and Steel Institute showed on Monday.

In July 2006, output was 103.3 million tonnes, the IISI said. The biggest producer in July was China with 41.3 million tonnes, down from 41.5 million in June, while total output in the EU15 fell to 14 million tonnes from 14.7 million in June, the Brussels-based IISI said.

Output in the United States was 8.4 million tonnes, up from 8.3 million, while Russian output rose to 6.2 million tonnes from 6.1 million.
