Americans who don't acknowledge the enemy are lunatic religious fanatic jihadists are not living in the real world. Europeans preferred to believe Hitler was harmless until he proved them wrong. If they had asserted themselves, stopped him in his tracks and pushed his troops back behind German borders, they could've prevented the horrific conflagration that ensued.
