Koan I will chime in - only this time. Just that you don't think, that LC is the only one. Many think the same.
CD - this post is not meant, to tell you how to run your thread. I will/would not post a complain even if you (or Tom or whoever) will/would announce that from now on is OK to post political posts.
Purpose of this post is, that some of off topic posters see, what is happening and what is result of their behavior. So they can make better educated decision in future.
Koan, not everyone here is blessed to have a lot of free time. Many of us are struggling to read as much as possible in a really short free time we have. And many times we have almost none.
Off topic politic posts usually cause (emotional) responses and many times flood of responses. Because of this, many of us, with not much free time, we really have a hard time. And we don't deserve this, right?
You don't know how many time I'm unhappy and angry when in my short free time I want to read what I'm interested of, but I need to go through political crap I don't care of.
What off topic posters don't realize is, that they are causing hard time for many. How is this helpful for making buddies and friends?
Koan, you posted many good trades and posts in the past. But, do you know what I remember the best from your past posts? When you were writing endless posts about religion on Tom's thread some half year ago or so (maybe year ago).
I remember how I was cussing and being unhappy because I have to go through crap I didn't car about.
But the point is, of all good you did in past, I remember the best when I felt harassed with off topic posts. Unfortunately many had also opinion at that time and moderator didn't care... and it went on and on... because it was on the weekend!
Grrr, weekend!!! Weekends were the only days, that I had time to read posts for the whole past week.
So I ended to stop reading that thread for a while because of that. Thanks to weekends off topic posters and careless moderator at that time.
Now, if I'm paying for better quality, I shouldn't go through this, right?
And, why in the first place would you do this to your buddy?!? Koan?!?
Koan, I hope you can see the point. Regardless one poster makes good posts/calls/trades... that same poster can ruin his/her image/buddy/friend thing by being selfish and trying to force others into reading something others don't care.
Do you want to be buddy and friend with most or you rather chose to be selfish?
When LC tried to ask you to follow the rules, you rather started arguing.

Now, what argument is this? Not on your average level. Since when this is good reason to start losing your buddies by forcing them into.... you know the drill.
It's selfish! Because you don't want to start reading political thread, we all need to start reading crap we don't like?

In past two weeks you posted more than one off topic political post and NO, they are not within the rules, ask DaveSI!
Koan, we all have political opinion, not only you. Imagine, what would happen, if hundreds of us here, would start expressing our political opinion and many wouldn't agree and we would start having arguments and hard feeling and cussing...
Koan, this post may sound harsh - but it's really not. And it is not meant only to you, but to many off topic posters. I hope, this post will open their eyes, what some here are thinking (and our reaction) on off topic political posts.
Just year o two ago one good Gold/PM thread got destroyed. Because of political posts. It's gone now. Many of us were complaining, but it didn't help. That's why I'm not and will not complain to moderators any more.
Say, some moderator on some gold/pm thread say it is OK to post off topic political posts during weekends? OK, go on and post them. Many of us will not complain. But you (off topic political posters) are losing few buddies. And moderator is losing few more readers and respect from us. It's so simple.
Now, just for the end, Koan, I'm disappointed, to see you are arguing when someone ask you to do what is right.
Oh, one more thing. On other hand, I couldn't understand, why some people complained about your warrants posts on other gold/pm thread. Warrants are part of our business. You had my support there. I felt bad then for you. But because of too much off topic posts before posted from you, I didn't say much at that time.
