The point of having the CIA director have a term offset from the Presidential elections is to insolate it from politics. Tenet undermined that. Asking the CIA director to resign would be as wrong as Clinton was when he fired all of the Federal District Attorneys. Of course in this case it would have probably been good for the country, unlike Clinton who just did it to delay the work in Arkansas where the DA was close to bringing charges against his clique. (The replacement DA never did bring charges.)
