I know of several in this area where prison time was served. They were if possible probably even worse then this Vick thing though. These were farmers going broke or losing the farm that just let animals starve and calves grow chained to a tree as their collars grew too small and such. Very gruesome. Lindy had said when this came out that dog fighting is quite common in the rural south amongst blacks. I found that hard to believe but after reading this maybe he's right. It's just a sport after all. sports.yahoo.com
