All the inflation hawks that caused the meltdown in housing give credibility to the assertion that high interest rates are containing inflation. I think that lower rates stimulate growth and higher rates restrain growth, but I don't see any real correlation that increasing the price of interest rates does anything to diminish demand to lower the price of goods sold. All it does is eliminate disposable income and diminish savings and investment for the consumer. Higher rates haven't done anything to protect the US consumer from rising oil prices imposed by OPEC cartels.

I don't know what happened to this country that has been duped into beleiving that inflation hawks are protecting this country. Low interest rates and low taxes are the tickets to economic prosperity in a free economy.
