Yeah. The Gilded Age. Which was a wonderful time. If you were rich. Not so wonderful if you weren't. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been all the various labor movements, populists movements, the Grange, etc.

But, the historical revisionists like to forget about that aspect of things. Everyone likes to envision that they would have been one of the rich under that system, despite the likelihood that it would have been otherwise...
