Maybe not so ridiculous that falling home prices cause a recession. We never had a period like we have now. Millions of people with ARM's about to see their monthly mortgage double or triple from the teaser rates they have been enjoying

much of the consumer 'fuel' has been 'house as ATM' for a number of years....the days of EZ credit are gone and home equity is limited...we just saw the consumers are relying more on credit than ever in the preceding month

i'm convinced that is because the home ATM is out of service

not exactly convinced it will precipitate a recession, but i would certainly expect the consumer to spending to soften, iow, muddle through
