One is reminded of the biblical "spell" for a man to confirm his suspicion that his wife was unfaithful. He took her to the temple and the priest took some of the slaughterhouse sacrificial offal off of the floor and mixed it with some water. After the woman drank this diseased crap and swelled up or died the husbands jealous suspicions were confirmed! The marvels of reason and science!
