When I was a teen, my best buddy and I camped the Appalachian trail my junior year in high school - was a ton of fun except coming across a clearing I stepped in a nest of them and got stung 32 times. It is a wonder I am not allergic to them now. Fortunately I had on a thick wool shirt which kept most of the stingers from penetrating deeply into my skin. The next thing I knew I was 10 feet up a tree yelling my head off! Not a fun experience.
