So are democracies. Surely you have heard of conscription. Big thugs show up and force people to perform as ordered, or else. If they resist, they will be attacked, and killed if necessary. <What IS a big deal is that Muslims are officially authorized to recruit by the sword. >

Right here in SI, people are saying "Bring back conscription". Slavery, confiscation, repression and dominance hierarchies are normal. They happen every day in democracies. Taxation by one gang who gain power, of those who work in the fields, is just another manifestation of slavery. Sure, one can refuse to work, but one gets hungry after a while. Slavery is far more effective these days.
