Was Senator Larry Craig Trying to Get Frisky in a Men's Room?

Idaho Senator Larry Craig may have to be added to the list along with Mark Foley as a closeted Republican in the United States Legislative Branch. Rollcall.com has reported that the Senator pleaded guilty of lewd conduct in a men's bathroom. The officer who arrested the Senator wrote this in his report:
“At 1216 hours, Craig tapped his right foot. I recognized this as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. Craig tapped his toes several times and moves his foot closer to my foot. I moved my foot up and down slowly. While this was occurring, the male in the stall to my right was still present. I could hear several unknown persons in the restroom that appeared to use the restroom for its intended use. The presence of others did not seem to deter Craig as he moved his right foot so that it touched the side of my left foot which was within my stall area,”
Craig is married and has had his sexuality called to question before. Gay activist Mike Rogers wrote on his blog in October last year about Craig:
"I have done extensive research into this case, including trips to the Pacific Northwest to meet with men who have say they have physical relations with the Senator. I have also met with a man here in Washington, D.C., who says the same -- and that these incidents occurred in the bathrooms of Union Station. None of these men know each other, or knew that I was talking to others. They all reported similar personal characteristics about the Senator, which lead me to believe, beyond any doubt, that their stories are valid."
HBO political talk show host Bill Maher had said last year that many more Republicans, besides Mark Foley, were homosexual and was going to name names. He backed off on that, but one has to wonder if Larry Craig was on that list and how many more are out there.... |
