I gave you examples of ones who have both a higher life expectancy and a significantly higher suicide rate. The US suicide rate is about 11 per 100,000. Which puts it at the low end of industrialized countries. The homicide rate is a bit over 4 per 100,000. nationmaster.com Finding out the accidental death rate is pretty hard. But, when you check the overall mortality rate, you find that the US rate isn't all that high when compared to countries with a longer life expectancy. In fact, it tends to be lower than many. cia.gov So, how is that possible? Simple, people, on the average, die younger here. Now it is possible to cherry pick the data, but f they adjust only for certain factors and not others, they are trying to lie to you. Case in point. While the US might have a much higher homicide rate than France, it only means a few per hundred thousand population. Like 3 or so. Which pales compared to the difference in suicide rate, to pick one.
