Some CPQ fans have been hostile toward old HWP posters since before the merger. They should get over it.

BTW, here's a picture of HPQ's just "OK" performance since just after the merger:


Here's CPQ's performance 1995-2000, compared to the industry and the S&P, taken from the 2001 proxy:


Not volatile at all.

Oh, and looking back at pre-merger, summer 2001 postings, I can see why the CPQ board was more active. Lot's of minute-by-minute, tick-by-tick fussing over stock price movements and such. I guess that's what long-term holders do. That and long for the good ol' days before DEC.
