Good article. The position that France is beginning, of course, should have happened a long time ago. Chirac was arguably the most blatantly corrupt politician that I can remember coming out of France.

I'd like to see how the French reacted to this "It's hard to imagine Jacques Chirac, Mr. Sarkozy's predecessor, speaking this way. (Mr. Sarkozy has also reportedly described French diplomats as "cowards" and proposed "[getting] rid of the Quai d'Orsay." Hell, I feel like applauding right now!

Makes me think about what we'd be hearing (or not) from Villepin right about now if she had won...........
