If the Spanish Inquisition were chugging, as you say, in this day, I would not attribute that to God's beneficence or his message in general to human beings, accept in the sense that we are informed by scripture how corrupt authority may become. I hope that I would be lucid enough to condemn it for what it is, a human catastrophe, without casting aspersions on the purity of the scriptural word.

The purity of the message, which springs from and across human principled dogma is to have a positive regard for your self and for the well being your fellow creatures. Naturally, that includes the necessity of correction for those heinous and brutal tyrants who demand our attention even if at the point of a sword...those for whom it would be best to face their maker ASAP.
