OIL....That's what paid for your surgeries in UAE. Even if you don't want to admit it.

I don't mind admitting or not admitting what paid for it, the point is that national health care paid for it, and it worked well. If your point is that oil makes the UAE able to provide lots of services to its residents - no kidding! You'll be in the top 80% of your class!

In Japan....you were just plain fortunate that that country felt sorry for you and took care of you. To save face, I'm sure you did something for the citizens there in kind, didn't you?

No, it was Japanese nationalized health care (not national sorrow!) that paid for it, and it was quite good care I was told by American doctors who checked me out during 2 months of US-based rehabilitation.

Question: Did you have medical insurance that took care of you while you were out of the US? If not, why not?

No. Never have bought medical insurance in my life. Aside from random bad luck accidents, I'm quite healthy. And who would pay for health insurance when health care is free and provided by the local government? Are you nuts?

Why do you think others should have to pay for and take care of your medical bills...?

I never said anything "should" be done. Just pointing out that nationalized health care has worked well for me outside the US. Do what you like, I couldn't give a hoot.
