Well good luck--it isn't easy replicating store bought dill
pickles. I wonder if it has something to do with them going
right into the jars versus sitting in a barrel to cure?
Anyway, my mother did pickles once when I was a kid and I
don't remember liking them.

On that marine layer--it isn't that the starlight cannot
get through, after all the stars at the beach are brilliant,
it is a matter of all that city light boucing back down
off the hazy marine layer. So, it really is just the dang
city lights.

As far as I know, the only smudge you can see (and you
probably have to use binoculars to find it) is Andromeda.
The long strip that goes NE-SW across the summer sky is
our galaxy.

I showed this to my kids the other day and had to block
the screen during the animation, ha! I don't think they're
ready to see live organ transplants and the rest of it.
