Only a few more weeks until you should be able to grab a bucktail and go out hunting for that elusive Muskie. Are you still near Hayward (I forget the name of the flowage)? I would think the pontoon boat would really be a nice way of casting in comfort for big daddy. Bet you could even do some trolling with that baby! I don't have a boat but if I purchased one a pontoon would be my choice. I saw a really inexpensive houseboat for sale down here. I stopped and looked at it (it needed some work) but with a good carpenter I think it could be a very nice floating lake home. Our lakes down here are pretty nice and they have great fishing if you just learn the waters. Mendota has been planted with trophy fish for about the last 15-20 years so for a Southern Wisconsin lake its got damn good fishing. Unfortunately its not the fresh, clear waters of Canada so I wouldn't eat the fish. Nothing compares with the ice cold Canadian walley waters. For my money those are some of the best tasting fish on earth. After I fillet my catch I'll generally soak them in beer with lots of salt for about 12-24 hours. Add a little beer and shore lunch batter, allow it to firm up and toss them in a pan. Junior and I didn't do Canada this year but we're going next year even if it means just the two of us go alone. He'll just love it and I really want him to start having experiences that you and I had when our parents took us camping.
