If the Spanish Inquisition were chugging, as you say, in this day, I would not attribute that to God's beneficence or his message in general to human beings, accept in the sense that we are informed by scripture how corrupt authority may become. I hope that I would be lucid enough to condemn it for what it is, a human catastrophe, without casting aspersions on the purity of the scriptural word.


If the Spanish Insquisition were still chugging along, you would find yourself burned at the stake in an auto-de-fe for sentiments like these.

But fortnately it's not.

However, you STILL don't get to decide for Catholics what Roman Catholic Christianity consists of. Or for Salafi Muslims what they define as the "pure Islam."
