A friend just told me someone on the mouthpiece network said up to 1/3 or did he say 2/3rds of all hedge funds would fail. I didnt see it, i dont watch the network anymore, but I believe that the arrival of so many funds on the scene in such a short period, all bearing the same goals, and embracing the same myths guarantee at least some % would blow up.

Too much singularity of mind and purpose always resolves to the detriment of the herd and right now still, hedge funds are a herd to be culled. there are probably some mega funds who will get bigger, but many others will just die from the inertia built into the sameness of their plans.

Hedge funds as a category or brand of investment might always be viable in some light, but under other conditions their shelf life may be less than that of any other widget.
