The message in his documentary is more important than the messenger. My opinion only.
I disagree with the message, the messenger, and apparently the way the message is presented.
Edit - I'm willing to listen to messages that I disagree with. I do that all the time. Its often a good idea, keeps you exposed to new ideas. At the very least you understand where other people are coming from, at most the new ideas might actually change your mind. I certainly deal with the type of ideas he presents in SI arguments all the time. But I don't want to pay for an watch Sicko. I have a strong dislike for Moore, and from what I have seen of the movie its very distorted, maybe even dishonest. That seems to be his mode of operation. At the very least its totally one sided. If you think he makes some unique argument that hasn't been much in the general public debate or on SI, can you present it yourself, or link to some more balanced reasonable presentation of it?
Ok, if you think it is meaningless and irrelevant that is fine , at least you did not say it was socialism or communism at work.
Actually I did, not communism, but I did say and still think its a socialist system. And yes the US has socialist systems as well, neither country has ever had and certainly doesn't have now a purely capitalist economy.
I think my personal post linked, covered the practical, moral and a bit of political ideology too, re our system.
Your personal post said that you got competent care without a separate bill beyond what you pay for taxes. It also said that you consider it infrastructure and not socialism. That barely touches on any of the relevant practical moral or ideological issues. It only presents your own case as information. Sure you can generalize the "no additional payment" to the rest of the system, but all your really saying was that it worked out ok for you last time you used it. |
