I agree with your analysis. I remember quite some time ago, an analyst saying that buying or shorting Iomega was for masochists only.
Perhaps it is because of this "quick buck, short term philosophy".
What puzzles me is the fact that Iomega, the company, now versus 2 years ago is completely different. We are not dealing with a
small company with a new product, but rather a company continuing
to show exceptional growth while delivering even more product lines.
The earnings growth has been quite impressive. Iomega
has met or exceeded estimates for the past 2 years. Actually, I can't
remember the last time Iomega missed earnings. So, with all the
success of the company, I would have thought that this volatility would have subsided by now. You're right, Nomai could start making
cola, chips, razors, and zip disks, but I would still buy Coke,
Intel, Gillette, and Iomega.
