Phil > I know your opinion about the prospect of war with Iran, which I do not share, as the rhetoric and accusations against Iran are continuously building. I'm afraid you attribute far too much common sense to the present US administration.

That's not it, it's because I see the US is exhausted in every way -- militarily, financially and I can see the American people have lost their enthusiasm for war. Moreover, Iran is ready, willing and very able to take on any aggression, so an attack on Iran would be foolhardy and unproductive in the extreme. Indeed, the US must also know that a war with Iran would tacitly be a war against Russia and China as well.

> the US administration has long ago compromised their independence as far as the events in the Middle East are concerned. Its questionable if they are indeed in charge.

No doubt about who is in charge and I also know they don't give a damn what the war costs the US or how many Americans die in it.

Like you, I read various articles stating that an American strike on Iran is imminent but I'm sceptical about this because I know war is about deception and that people do not advise their foes in advance to prepare for an attack.
