Interesting to read that recycling glass often doesn't make sense. I already knew its often the case with plastic and paper. OTOH I'm pretty sure recycling aluminum cans does make sense. Not to the point that it justifies some of the reactions of the "recycle everything at any cost" crowd, but its probably the most sensible common form of recycling for household wastes.

Clear glass might make sense as well. Although the case isn't probably as strong as aluminum cans as the glass is more likely to have different types of food residue, and is fragile and sharp, and also I don't think recycling it saves as much energy as aluminum.
