It is certainly a massive transfer of wealth... a lot of it out of this country. And also from the poor to the wealthy.

re: Again something that created wealth, not an expense to oppose some claimed disaster. Now if the disaster really is as bad as say Al Gore thinks it is, than the expense would probably be worth it (despite it being so massive), but there is a difference between investing in new productive technologies with a real market demand, and the normal "creative destruction" that goes along with that on one hand, and re-creating old infrastructure that is rendered useless of at least worth much less, because of political decisions on the other. There is a difference between response to consumer demand, and political directives from on high.

I'm not talking about global warming, I'm talking about the economy. Would you have opposed the electrical wiring of the US, the phone wiring of the US, the Interstate system? All these were government assisted.

The free market is not perfect. Greed doesn't always anticipate problems. Right now the government is massively supporting the status quo.

The change from oil as a primary energy source HAS TO CHANGE. We can either lead and profit from it or follow and be a victim.
