Yes and No. What I mean is that if a telco and others are willing to shell out a billion dollars for cable modem technology, then that proves they believe that there is a huge market for faster speed technology right now. ADSL and cable modems are pretty much in the same stage from a technological progression point. Therefore, it now seems logical to assume that within 6 months we may see a huge contract awarded to an ADSL company. The telco's are never going to put all their eggs in a cable basket, not with all the copper they have out there. It is now just a matter of time before ADSL gets awarded to a company. The question is one of timeframe and which company. But the cable award proves a serious commitment to high speeds without a shadow of a doubt. That also means telco's see this contact and it will put pressure on them to buck up. It just raised their performance bar to react to competition.
