What is surprising is that you are surprised that Pat Buchanan opposes Bush and the war in Iraq.
Buchanan has been a consistent voice against war for many years, including Clinton’s bombing campaign in Serbia.
Conservatives have in general offered a consistent political voice against war, but I refer to true conservatives, paleo-cons (i.e. old conservatives), not neo-cons (i.e., new conservatives).
Neo-cons have appropriated the label “conservative” but are not conservative in any way, shape or form. Rather, they are the most radical group to have power in this country since reconstruction.
Morally, the neo-cons are scum balls. Politically they are fascists (as defined by Ortega y Gasset – i.e., they don’t care if they are right). The heart and soul of the neo-conism is Jewish but there are plenty of non-Jews on board, a veritable zoological park of bottom feeders --- e.g., Pentagon cabals, Big Contract rip off artists linked to the Pentagon, goons in the drug smuggling business (as hinted by Sybil Edmonds before she was shut down), decadent Christian innocents waiting for end times, and every sort of low-order sycophant who ever licked an ass.
The neo-cons seek to destroy tendencies and traditions that make possible local power, non-government prestige and confident men. In general, the neo-cons wage war on European Americans for two reasons: a confident European American does not make a good slave, and a confident European American causes Jews and other minorities to become weak-kneed with fear. In general it is possible to say about the neo-cons that what they most lack is integrity.
It appears that the neo-cons are agitating for another war. If they succeed, and get the US to attack Iran, the error will be one for the record books. What can one say about such an outcome except to mention Sergei Witte, a Russian industrialist and advisor to the Czar, who saw the consequences of Russia’s entry into war in 1914. Here is some historically accurate dialogue (from the movie “Nicolas and Alexandra”) with respect to what Witte was saying.
“Count Witte: None of you will be here when this war ends. Everything we fought for will be lost; everything we’ve loved will be broken. The victors will be as cursed as the defeated.
