I feel sorry for anyone forced by their notions of the judgement of other people to live a life that can never fully satisfy them, and that forces them to deny a vital part of their existence.

He was not forced, he chose.

And it is a small, mean man who projects his pain on others, especially others who are like him, but who instead chose the courageous path.

I applaud your compassion, but this man needs all the scorn society can heap on him.

And this from one of the bleedingest bleeding hearts on SI.
