Why don't US class action lawyers sue the lead companies? Don't beat yourself up too hard, the main culprit is no longer leaded gasoline, that stuff was bad to breath but it's long gone.

It's cheap lead paint, which has been illegal since the 1970's. A well built house doesn't have lead paint anymore, but poor tenant housing does, and the paint is dusty, and chips are coming off the walls, but the landlords who rent to poor people don't care.

Loss of IQ points from lead paint in their bedrooms might be one explanation why poor blacks in my home state of Louisiana seem so much stupider than poor blacks in the north. Lower enforcement levels.

Before you call me a racist, go to the poorer sections of Baton Rouge and New Orleans. If their mamas and daddies are not smart enough to check for lead paint, and their landlords are too venal and evil to remediate the lead paint, this is an unnecessary cause of brain dysfunction and lower IQ.

Similarly the use of alcohol and crack cocaine while pregnant.

Hurricane Katrina probably did thousands of potential lead paint victims a favor by destroying thousands of old houses with cheap lead paint. The new generations will have IQs 10 points higher than the older generations.
