About US medical system.
I have frequent 'attacks' of kidney stones - sand, parts, cristals decide to (around) once per year travel out of my body with horrible pain - for the last 20 years or so.
In Europe, where I'm from, I simple go to emergency doctor, I get some shoots I pay a little and 10-15 minutes after pain disappear TOTALLY. All doctors know, that pain killer here - even the strongest - will not help. What they use, I don't know.
Here is US, when I got 'attack' for the first time - I had to start signing some bunch of papers (I was insured), while I was going through horrible pain :-((( That's un human!
Then they put me on the intravenous, start flowing some liquids before I even spoke to the doctor. (nurse know what medical i need?!?)
After I spoke to the doctor, they start giving me some medicines. I got very sick I was puking, but pain was not gone away. So it got worse. I complained and nurse offered me few medications to choose from. Me?!? Am I the doctor?!?! I didn't even know what she was talking...
I asked her how she can offer me these medications and where is doctor to make decisions. She said that she can offer me these - I can choose what I want - as Doctor already preaproved them.
This is sick! In the Europe you are not telling them, what medicines you want. If you know more that doctor, then why go to visit one?!? Doctor should made his best decision based on his knowledge.
Anyway, they put me on the Cat Scan (they could use X-rays, but hospital have new Cat Scan and need to be paid off as I've learned latter and they are looking for every excuse to put someone into it.
So, to make story short, I left Emergency several hours later, still in horrible pain - they never really helped me, I also got sick - so it got worse - and bill was around $7,000. I got some pills with me, they didn't help either, but they do makes me sick and I'm puking if I'm using them - they are making everything worse. :-(((
I later complained, tried get help with some other doctor. No one couldn't find out, what I'm getting in EU that it help almost instantly. US simple don't have the same thing, whatever it is. Even worse. US DOCTORS DON'T KNOW THAT PAIN KILLER IS NOT RIGHT REMEDY FOR THIS CASE. They don't know - scary, a?
Such a wonderful medical system and can't help you?!? And doctors have lack of knowledge?!?
Since then I had two more attacks. I didn't dare to use medical help here in US any more. So I'm cursed to suffer a big big pain until it is over. (only those who experienced it, knows how painful it is)
At home I'm suffering only 10-15 minutes after I got shot. And cost only a little.
This medical system here is sick. I know some other scary examples when money was more important that patients interest. It is all about, how to get maximum money from you (your insurance) - but helping you is a secondary plan.
I know an example, where kid with ower 250 pounds and broken and dislocated leg bone was threated for over 9 months, missed whole year of school, because doctor decided to keep him for himself instead sending him to another town to the hospital where they would open his leg, and put bone back to place and kid would be in the school way way sooner. I blame parents here to, for not to insisting into this later solution. Doctor clearly made decision based on his instead patient interest. Later two doctors agreed with me, that doctors call was wrong.
Now, you may say, that not all doctors are like this. Could be. But this system allows this. This system is broken and against majority citizens interest. Period.
