Interesting list. I would add California to that list. Unless you excluded it because the Hispanic vote is already critical there. Witness Pete Wilson's defeat in the early 90s.

As for Texas, my own guess is that it depends more on efforts to revive the Dem party than on Hispanic growth. Which your formulation suggests. As I recall, the senatorial race that Cornyn (sp??) won was close enough so one might see some leverage. I don't think, however, Hutchison is up for reelection until 2010.
