Chat - Jim,

My first job after I graduated as an engineer was with Northern Telephone (no relation to Nortel, but they were bought out by Bell Canada) and one of our projects was a 120 channel quad system buried about 3 feet down in the ballast along the railway tracks to feed a couple of Norad radar sites

We had done a study that showed that there was only a train wreck every 3 years on the line. Instead we got two in the first 6 months that ripped out large sections of the cable. My personal introduction to 'Murphy's Law'.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

:-))

John
