Oral,
It has to be over before long. We cannot sustain our current presence. That alone is an error. The sense of Congress states we are supposed to maintain sufficient military strength for two fronts. We no longer have that capability.

Any student of military history knows a mere 170,000 man army deployed far from home is extremely vulnerable. More so because our tactical doctrine requires us to keep 1/3 of our battlefield strength in reserve and we are not even doing that.

I don't want to be too negative here. I have utmost confidence in our front line troops to do their job and do it well. My lack of confidence is in our strategic military planners.

They do us a disservice if they call for running the army until it is run into the ground.

American troops are racing around Iraq securing bits and pieces, meanwhile their govt has been on vacation...AWOL as far as I'm concerned.

Who has a higher level of responsibility to provide Iraq's basic security them or us?
