Denmark arrests 'bomb' suspects [Islamists] BBC ^ \| 4 September 2007 \| Staff news.bbc.co.uk Danish police have arrested several people on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack using explosives, security officials say. The arrests were made late on Monday in the Copenhagen area, officials said. It is unclear how many people were arrested or what were the targets they allegedly intended to attack. Denmark's contribution to the US-led military campaign in Iraq has prompted fears it could be targeted by terrorists. The country also attracted the ire of Muslims worldwide after a Danish newspaper last year printed cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad. The suspects held on Monday had been under surveillance, Denmark's police intelligence agency said.
