In a war between China and the US, NATO countries would not suspend trade with either party unless it was dangerous to transport the products. IMHO, trade with the Axis of Weasels will not stop barring head to head war. These trading partners seem willing to step in to support rogue nations.

Yes, dumping dollars would harm both parties. They could rebuy at lower rates to keep the market volatile without completely losing their investment. IMHO a volatile foreign exchange increases uncertainty and makes it less desirable. They could really hurt us for a long time.
